DAY 1!
This morning Adam and I left on a big vacation. The first part of our journey was traveling through the reservation in the very northeast corner of Arizona. It wasn't anything grande that we hadn't seen before. Then came the grand finale; driving through Monument Valley. It wasn't in our plans, but it definitely wasn't very far out of our way. It was very cool to see all of the many pictures that there are in our society of it come to life. We were able to see how big, the different angles of them, and why they were called certain things.
| This is one of the pictures that we took of the many "monuments". Sorry it isn't very good in quality. That usually suffers when you are in a car driving 65 mph while trying to take it. |
Literally right after, or even during, our wonder with Monument Valley, we entered into Utah. It caught us off guard and so is the picture that we got.... barely. But this is the next leg of our journey!
After traveling through Utah for an couple of hours we decided that it was time to stop, stretch, and eat something. We thought, "What better place to do that than the temple!" We stopped in Monticello at the beautiful temple that they have there. It was so comforting to know that even though we were in a completely knew city, we were still able to feel the comfort that comes from our Heavenl Father through temples.
Next was passing into Colorado, wich was uneventful due to the fact that they did not have a sign telling us that we were in Colorado, or we would have taken a picture of that also. However, despite this, Colorado has become one of my new favorite places today. We were driving next to the Colorado River for what seemed like the entire time. The land around us was so green and beautiful. One of our favorite places was driving through a canyon next to the river. It was windy, green, and sometimes the river even had rapids. There was even a city built down in one of the areas surrounded by the mountains.
It was so amazing to be able to drive through the Rocky Mountains. There were many parts that we actually drove in tunnels that went through a mountain.
After the Rockies was just a short trip to Denver where we found our hotel and headed our to see a bit of the city and get a bite to eat. One problem; it was raining. We still tried to have fun and go see Larimer Square, a popular place to eat and shop in downtown Denver. We did make it, but all of the restaurants looked expense. We were tires, hungry, and wet and so we went to the next closest place, The Cheesecake Factory. Neither of us had been there before so we thought it was ok even though they are everywhere. We ate, stuffed ourselves, and now have a piece of strawberry cheesecake sitting in our hotel room. We hope it doesn't rain on us every day of our trip and that we can have a good time on our vacation.
It's been a long time since I've been there, but I remember loving the CO drive too! Looks like you two are having fun! Now the challenge is to get the two of you IN the pictures ;)
ReplyDeleteRachel, how pretty! And how fun! I hope you guys have great time and completely enjoy yourselves! That's a good idea to post each day, because I'm sure after a trip that long it would be hard to remember everything! Have fun, can't wait to see you in a few weeks!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see all of your adventures!! It's making me want to roadtrip across the country!! And I agree with Kylie that you two need to get in some of these pictures!! :) Have so much fun!! Also...I don't know if you are already doing this but there is an app you could get on Adam's iPhone to making posting pretty easy (if the pictures are from his phone). It's called BlogPress and there might be some other ones that do the same thing. Also, if the pictures are from his phone there are some cool photo editing things you can use. I have one called ShakeIt and one called Instagram that I just got. I really like the Instagram one. Anyway, hope some of that helps! I'm excited to hear about the rest of your trip!
