More of Pittsburgh

DAY 11!

Today was hot! The weird thing about the east is that it is very humid, and mixed heat, it is suffocating. There was a heat warning today and because of that it was a more relaxed day. We started out by walking through the Strip District. The street that we walked down was filled with restaurants, little shops, and even wholesale shops. It was cool to see the difference between this street and others that we walked down. Next, we went to Point State Park, a park that is right on the point where the two rivers meet. It is all about the forts that were once in Pittsburgh and even where they were (one by the French and the other the British.) After this we were going to walk around downtown, but it was way too hot. We decided that we would go back to our hotel, get some water, and figure out something to do that is inside.

The inside activity that we decided to do was go see Cars 2. I know that it is kind of lame, but with AMC's deal, we can both go for $10 and it's hot and suffocating outside. The movie wasn't starting for a while, so we drove around some of the other neighborhoods just to get more of a feel for the city. It is so cool to see how different not only Pittsburgh is from Arizona, but even how the neighborhoods within Pittsburgh are different from one another. One thing that I have learned about Pittsburgh is that it is very unique. It is much denser and because of that the houses are different, the shops are different, the people are even different. One place that we went was to a lookout in Greenfield. It was just the end of a road on top of a hill that gave a good look at the city. There are so many of those around Pittsburgh because of all of the rolling hills that are everywhere.

After driving around, we went to the shops that are around the movie theater looking for a new purse for me because mine is falling apart. We didn't find anything. It's been hard finding one like it because it just doesn't seem to be in style right now. But we're still looking.

Then was the movie! It was pretty good for a sequel. I would say more about, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone.

After spending time in the cool theater, we went over to a man's house that Adam knew from his mission, BK is what he calls him. He is a nice man, kind of quiet, but a good guy. We then went, along with BK, to Grandma's house. Grandma is a black lady in the ward who gets to know all of the missionaries. She was the nicest lady always calling people baby and sugar. She is so concerned with those around her. It was fun being able to visit and get to know both of these people that Adam came to know.

  1. Love your vacation updates!

Also, I MIGHT have a purse that's similar in style to yours that you could have. Call or text me and I can send you a picture. :] Also, it might be super easy to make a pattern off of--then we could make you one in whatever colors you wanted!

Love you! Can't wait to hear more! How many days long was your vacation?

  2. Sound like those shops would be fun! You should just make a purse the way you like it.....you could even use your current one as a pattern.
